1 year check up
Audrey Grace had her 1 year check up with Dr. Smith on June 9th. Dr. Smith said she was perfect! She weighs 23 lbs 4 oz (95th percentile) and is 31 inches long (90th percentile). She is definitely a healthy girl! She is saying 7 words, Mama, Dada, dog, uh oh, no, ball and nose. Annie taught her to point to her nose and say nose! She is getting two more teeth. Her top two. You can see the left one coming thru and feel the right one. She is eating all table food and drinking 3-4 6-8 oz sippy cups a day! NO MORE BOTTLE! We did it and it was so easy! I think transitioning her to the sippy cup early really helped with this. Last Friday night (June 3rd) was her last bottle. She had gotten to wear she was so tired at night (from daycare) that she hardly drank it anyway. I thought that was as good of a time as any to see how she would react. So Saturday night I just offered her a sippy cup after her bath. She drank a little and then I laid her down, that was it, no crying. It was that easy. I don't think getting rid of the paci will be so easy. She is still adjusting to her new room at daycare and is not real impressed with it. She cries every morning. So for the first 2 weeks the teacher let her have her paci, I think ALL day! She has become obsessed with having it at all times. She was only taking it when she slept but now she will whine until she gets it. I am working on it and her teacher is too. Hopefully together we can get a handle on it. Daycare is wearing her out. She has always been pretty happy for the most part, but at night after daycare she is so exhaused that she is misreble. They only take 1 nap a day and I just don't think that is enough for her. I guess that means she is having fun and playing hard so that is good! She is still not walking, which is still fine by me! She crawls everywhere and pulls up on everything though. She will stand for a few seconds but knows she can get where she wants to be by crawling. She is all over the place. Her favorite thing to do is crawl as fast a she can from the den to the kitchen and get into Miller's water bowl or into the cabinet with the plastic cups and throw them all over the floor. Ryan and I will be in the kitchen and her her laughing because she is having so much fun throwing cups! She also loves to pull all the drawers in the kitchen out and get into the dishwasher. She is also trying to learn what she can and can't get away with. She is learning to try and pitch a fit. Dr. Smith said she is learning some of this from daycare but this is the age where they are developing an opinion and learning how to test you. She is testing us, but I think we are doing good to teach her early, that WE are the boss!
